Hey there, I'm Sam Patton and this is my family. As you can tell, I'm kinda outnumbered by the ladies!
I've has been in the insurance industry for over 29 years. I got started on the claims side of the industry and in June of 2016, I decided to go to the sales side. I've been selling Medicare, Life, & Health Insurance full time ever since. Here's some of my story.
I was born in Hondo, Texas but was raised on my Grandpa’s ranch in Utopia, Texas. Next to the youngest of 9 kids, I learned at an early age that if I wanted anything, I had to go get it. With 4 brothers and 4 sisters, all I got was the leftovers. I raked yards, mowed grass, dug post holes, sheared sheep, tended horses & cattle, hauled hay. If I found an open job, I would attempt it when I thought it would put some dollars in my pocket. I even started my first business as a young boy running a GRIT paper route on my bicycle.
My oldest brother and an uncle moved to Georgia in the late 70s and that started the family’s migration east. We went out and visited throughout the 80s & in 1991 I went to spend the summer in Georgia and ended up staying.
I started in the cleaning and insurance restoration industry in 1992 and in 1995 at the age of 20 I purchased a carpet cleaning franchise. What started out as primarily a carpet cleaning business ended up being a full-fledged fire & water insurance restoration business. In the restoration business, I worked with many insurance agents and adjusters. I stayed self-employed with my cleaning & restoration business for 17 1/2 years but in 2013 we decided to move to the Covington/Conyers, GA area, and I couldn't just pick up the business and move it.
I attempted working as a manager for several different insurance restoration companies but after being self-employed for most of my life, I decided it was time to find something I could do on my own again. Being familiar with the insurance industry I looked into becoming an insurance adjuster but ultimately the best long-term solution for me was to become an agent. In 2016 I started selling life and health insurance and the rest, as they say, is history.
I love helping folks with their Medicare. My grandpa was my best friend growing up and I have always loved seniors. Maybe I'm just an old soul. I find the seniors to be an over-marketed to but under-served segment of the population. It seems many agents are just out to make a sale whether it is a good fit for the client or not. I work hard to educate seniors so they can make informed Medicare decisions on their own.
In January of 2020, we added a new chapter to our story and moved to Minden, Louisiana.
As far as hobbies go music has been my main hobby my whole life. I play a number of instruments but am a master of none. I started writing gospel songs when I was just a teenager and have continued it to this day. I was a church pianist in Georgia for many years. My other hobbies include smoking bbq on my smoker, hiking, and finding great food!
